What we’ll be learning:
Integrating anti-oppressive and justice rooted values with actions inside and outside the art therapy room is an ongoing journey. This experiential-based presentation will focus on delving into what it looks like for social justice values as defined by the cultural humility framework and empowerment model to transcend theory into practice. Participants will explore topics of equity, access, safety, non-performative allyship, and collective liberation through a practical lens. A main goal of this presentation is for the art therapy practitioner to gain tools that support embodying social justice grounded in authenticity. Creativity will be utilized to identify each participant's social location along with current strengths and growth areas. Resources to further participants’ social justice community care practice will be provided.
